The client had a steel structure with a conical hopper inside used to load rail cars with an abrasive product. The steel hopper was not equipped with a means to resist abrasion during use, causing premature wear and leaking. The original vendor had not provided sufficient information to refabricate a panel, so new drawings needed to be prepared. Local utilized its 3D scanning equipment to collect precise dimensional information about the panel and prepare new fabrication drawings. The replacement panels were installed with no field-fitting required.
