Pressure Vessel Rerates and Registrations

Our client had a large quantity of shell & tube heat exchangers that qualify for ABSA registration. These heat exchangers had bolted components that be swapped between exchangers. To allow compatible components to be used in multiple exchangers, updated ABSA registration was required. The heat exchangers had been repaired, altered, or replaced during their long history of operation. Local Engineering assisted the client with organizing and interpreting the documentation available to confirm component compatibility and to prepare new ABSA documents for submission.

Local Engineering reviewed the client’s files to find the relevant equipment details and information required to support ABSA submittals. We engaged and interfaced with stakeholders to understand the detailed requirements of the submissions, status of the equipment, and the issues that needed to be addressed. We rectified discrepancies between the documentation and the process conditions, performed ASME VIII Div. 1 calculations to re-rate heat exchangers, and helped the client establish clear summaries for each piece of equipment to identify which components could be swapped between exchangers. Local prepared and submitted registration packages to ABSA on the client’s behalf and interfaced with ABSA personnel to support the registration process.
